καὶ ἔστιν αὕτη ἡ ἀγγελία ἣν ἀκηκόαμεν ἀπ’ αὐτοῦ καὶ ἀναγγέλλομεν ὑμῖν ὅτι ὁ θεὸς φῶς ἐστιν καὶ σκοτία ἐν αὐτῷ οὐκ ἔστιν οὐδεμία 6 ἐὰν εἴπωμεν ὅτι κοινωνίαν ἔχομεν μετ’ αὐτοῦ καὶ ἐν τῷ σκότει περιπατῶμεν ψευδόμεθα καὶ οὐ ποιοῦμεν τὴν ἀλήθειαν 7 ἐὰν δὲ ἐν τῷ φωτὶ περιπατῶμεν ὡς αὐτός ἐστιν ἐν τῷ φωτί κοινωνίαν ἔχομεν μετ’ ἀλλήλων καὶ τὸ αἷμα Ἰησοῦ τοῦ υἱοῦ αὐτοῦ καθαρίζει ἡμᾶς ἀπὸ πάσης ἁμαρτίας

This is the life-changing news that we heard from the “walking word” and gladly share:  God is as illuminating and clear as light itself.  There is no deception in him - not even a shadow!  If we say we’re a friend of God, but can’t live transparently, we’re just fooling ourselves - it’s like looking for truth in a mirage.  But if light passes through us like it passes through God, we can see each other all the clearer!  But don’t have a guilt-complex.  The sacrifice Jesus made, who is God’s closest companion, helps sweep away the shadows our mistakes leave behind.
